Balloon Bay has run Bay Area holiday installs every December since 2019. December is the one month a Silicon Valley company decorates for itself. The holiday party is usually the only all-hands moment of the year with a budget behind it, and the décor has two jobs at once: it has to read as a celebration rather than a quarterly meeting, and it has to photograph well, because the photos are what the rest of the company and every candidate sees afterwards. Hotel ballrooms across the South Bay and Peninsula turn over between events, so we install in the load-in window the venue gives us — often the same afternoon — and return for teardown at the end of the night rather than the next morning. On campus, we arrive with a named install crew for the badge desk, keep to the freight elevator and the loading dock, and stay out of the way of AV and catering, who are working the same window. The palette question comes up every year and it is worth deciding early. Classic Christmas red and green reads as a holiday party but not as your company; a holiday install matched to your brand colors reads as both, and photographs as yours. Most teams land on a brand-color installation with metallic accents — a company that owns a strong blue gets navy, silver, and white, and the room still reads December. For a mixed workforce, a winter palette of white, silver, and ice blue carries the season without committing to one holiday, which matters more in the Bay Area than almost anywhere else.

Book early. Weekend dates in the first three weeks of December are the single most contested slots in our calendar and they are typically gone by early November, which means the decision effectively gets made in September and October.
