How Long Does a Balloon Arch Last?

A professionally built balloon arch made with air-filled (not helium) balloons can last for weeks indoors. Most organic garlands and arches we install hold their shape and color for one to four weeks in a climate-controlled space, which is why they're perfect for events booked a few days in advance.

Outdoors, lifespan depends heavily on conditions. Direct sun and heat are the biggest enemies — UV light can cause balloons to fade or 'oxidize' (develop a matte film) within a day, and heat can cause expansion and pops. In mild, shaded outdoor settings an arch can look great for a full day or longer.

Helium balloons are different: a standard latex helium balloon floats for 8–12 hours, while foil/number balloons can float for several days. For all-day events we recommend air-filled structures on frames, which don't deflate.

To get the longest life from your decorations: keep them out of direct sun, avoid extreme heat, and let the professionals handle installation on a proper frame. At Balloon Bay we build every arch to last through your event and handle teardown afterward.
